Carbon Fiber Effect

Postby Climbinfreak » Sat Feb 06, 2010 5:52 pm

Has anyone every tried to do the paint effect that looks like carbon fiber?

I am planning on repainting my valve cover and the heat shield. I am going to probably give it a try. If amyone has any tip throw them in.

When I get this dont I will post some pics of the job.

I have never seen a paint job where CF looks good.
If it's not the real thing, it will just look fake.

Yeah thats what I have noticed on some I have seen. I have the material and am going to do some test pieces to see if I like it. If I end up not I will just reapint over it. I get bored with the same thing all the time anyway.

We how I did it was lay down a solid sivler layer. Then after it drys you get the black down. To do this I used none slip mat like the ones that are put under rugs. You lay that across and spray through it.(pain when it not a flat surface but I just took my time) You then pull the mat off and do a fogging layer over the whole thing to darken it up.

I found a video on youtube and took a chance. I would suggest watching the vid before doing it my explanation it pretty bad lol.
